MAMGA - Aldo Leopold Shack Tour

  • The Aldo Leopold Foundation E13701 Levee Road Baraboo, WI, 53913 United States (map)

The Shack - a rebuilt chicken coop along the Wisconsin River - was once part of the Leopold family's cherished retreats and is the heart of the Aldo Leopold Foundation's programs. The landscape surrounding the Leopold Shack and Farm is known today as the Leopold Pines Conservation Area. Thousands of visitors each year are inspired through tours, classes, and other events in the same landscape that inspired Aldo. The site is a living classroom for exploring the ecological and ethical relationships between people and the soil, water, plants, and animals that collectively make up “the land.” At the end of the tour, lunch is on on your own.  You may want to visit the Leopold Center where the tour started.  It is a net zero energy building, meeting all of it’s energy needs on site, The Center contains a museum and many trails in the woods behind the Center. Please register at Eventbrite. You should sign up early.  We can only accommodate 20.  Sign-ups will close at noon on June 4th.
